It’s time again to make resolutions, drink champagne and mumble the words of “Auld Lang Syne” in public.

And as New Year’s Eve approaches, so does the stress of figuring out what the heck you’re going to do.

It’s been a rough enough year already, so don’t worry about the big night and take a look at these tips below for attending Marietta’s celebration:

Road closures

The gist: Plan ahead and expect delays. Roadways in and around the Square start closing at 9 a.m. and will be cordoned off by noon.

Parking

Good news here. There are three free public parking decks near the Square:

120 Cherokee St.

191 Lawrence St.

205 Lawrence St.

But Marietta police recommended a carpool, taxi or Uber/Lyft because they don’t want to have to arrest you.

Safety

You can sign up for Marietta Nixle to receive information on large events, traffic situations and notable incidents. Text MariettaPD to 888777, or you can sign up online at www.Nixle.com. Police suggest leaving valuables at home and carrying little that could get lost or stolen.
