A new reservoir management system recently installed at Lake McIntosh in Peachtree City will provide better water quality for customers, according to the Fayette County Water System.

The new WaterSelector technology, developed by Ixom Watercare, takes samples from different depths of water, monitors the water quality in real time and sends “preferred water” to the treatment plant for distribution to residents of Peachtree City and elsewhere in the county. Water System Director Lee Pope said the method “will mean real savings in terms of chemical usage, extended plant life and less complexity to treating the water.”

Lake McIntosh is a 650-acre reservoir on Line Creek.
