Gwinnett is nearing completion of additional sidewalks on a heavily-traveled section of Jimmy Carter Boulevard and Holcomb Bridge Road in Peachtree Corners. The project will fill in several gaps in the sidewalk network from Crooked Creek Road to the Peachtree Corners Shopping Center on Jimmy Carter Boulevard.

One unique section of the sidewalk project will include a pedestrian staircase to allow pedestrians direct access to the Peachtree Corners Shopping Center. This section had become a well-worn path as pedestrians had to negotiate a steep, earthen slope to reach the shopping center.

“I am thrilled that we are able to make these pedestrian improvements to this busy section of Jimmy Carter Boulevard. This is an important project that I wanted to see completed as it was a huge safety issue for pedestrians,” said Gwinnett County Commissioner Lynette Howard (Dist. 2).

The project is funded using 2014 SPLOST funds and construction is expected to be completed before the end of the year.
