The Cobb County Board of Education voted recently to spend around $28 million for four projects in Marietta, Smyrna and Acworth.

Mountain View Elementary School in Marietta will be replaced for $23,361,000 by Evergreen Construction of Atlanta with a scheduled completion date of May 1, 2017.

Campbell Middle School in Smyrna will receive a new heating and air conditioning system, new water heaters in the gym, new electrical panels in each hallway, new basketball goal supports, motors and cables and replacement of gym lights with high-bay fluorescent lights.

Bon Building Services, Inc. of Conyers will be paid $4.432 million for these Campbell Middle improvements with a completion date of July 22.

Two projects involve an agreement with the Cobb County Board of Commissioners to allow the Cobb County Department of Transportation to secure a contractor for roadway improvements along Old Stilesboro Road and the property at Pickett’s Mill Elementary School in Acworth and along Hembree Road at Meadow Drive next to Pope High School in Marietta.

The Pickett’s Mill project will cost $113,799 and should be completed by the time school opens on Aug. 1.

Yet the roundabout at Pope High will be open at an undetermined time and cost $200,000.
