Authorities say Shandarrick Barnes confessed to an act of vandalism involving a brick and dead rats at the home of a key figure in the Atlanta City Hall bribery scandal.
But a lawyer for Barnes said local prosecutors haven't turned over the purported tape after he repeatedly asked for it to prepare for trial. Now Barnes' attorney, Ted Salter, has filed a motion to suppress evidence against his client, including the purported taped confession.
Barnes has pleaded not guilty to felony counts of making terroristic threats and criminal damage to property in the second degree. Authorities say he vandalized the home of Elvin "E.R." Mitchell Jr., who has pleaded guilty in a cash-for-contracts scheme that's rocked the city.
On the subscriber website, MyAJC.com, find out why Barnes' attorney is trying to suppress the tape as evidence — if it exists.
