Recent traffic issues around the McDonough square have caused some to complain that the removal of “Give Gap-Take Gap” signs for motorists entering the square from the west on Jonesboro Road have led to confusion and increased traffic backups.

The Georgia Department of Transportation’s district office removed the signs based on two studies, and issues initially created by the change were because of a glitch in the DOT software, said McDonough City Administrator Keith Dickerson.

“The entire process is considered a test of the study to see if it makes traffic move more safely and efficiently,” Dickerson said, adding that if the problem continues the signs can be put back.
