A rezoning request for a convenience store and gas station at the corner of East Atlanta Road and Rex Road did not move forward after two motions failed during the June 19 meeting of the Henry County Board of Commissioners.
The request was postponed from the previous month when a regular board meeting was cancelled due to lack of a quorum. Bruce Holmes, in whose district the property lies, made a motion to deny and was joined by Dee Clemmons and June Wood, but no votes on the motion from Gary Barham, Blake Prince and Johnny Wilson resulted in a 3-3 tie. Wilson then made a motion to approve the request, but that motion failed 3-3 along the same voting lines.
