Effective Nov. 1, Morrow’s residential sanitation and recycling service will be administered by Latham Home Sanitation. The change was made to minimize the increase in fees for service as well as maintain a high service level. Beginning with the January bill, there will be an increase of $1.35.

According to city officials, the new company will provide the same back door service from the past. A door hanger will be placed at residences with a collection schedule reference for solid waste. The days of collection may vary from the current schedule.

For recycling, the service schedule will shift from Friday to Monday. Curbside bulk/yard waste will not change and will remain on Mondays. The volume of service (the number of cans, the amount of yard waste) will remain the same. The only change is that glass recycling is no longer accepted.

As part of the transition, Republic Recycling bins will be collected beginning on Friday Oct., 27 and then soon replaced with a new Advanced Disposal bin at the citizen’s request.

The city and Latham do not provide garbage receptacles. Personal garbage receptacles will be accepted with the new provider. Residents shouldn’t use the recycling container for garbage. Advanced Disposal will not haul garbage from

the recycling containers.
