The Milton City Council Monday night approved changes in rental of sports fields and other facilities under the Milton Parks and Recreation Department.
The city’s policy currently gives preference to city residents and to athletic programs and leagues in partnership. After lengthy discussion, the council sent one issue back to the park and rec board for further consideration — what sort of access to grant for athletic field use by groups not recognized in a partnership with the city.
The city also updated its park and recreation fee schedule, adding rentals for artificial turf fields at Bell Memorial Park and facility rentals at Broadwell Pavilion.
In a pending zoning case, the council approved a rezoning allowing expansion of the Red Apple Montessori School on Bethany Bend Road. The school plans to expand from 2,000 to 8,000 square feet and offer elementary school classes in addition to its present daycare, tripling its size from 50 to 150 students.
