The Milton City Council voted 6-0 to adopt its approximately $26.3 million FY 2016 budget. The budget is based on the city’s steady millage rate of 4.732, and it projects a $4.9 million surplus.

The 2016 document has a number of capital project items tucked into it, including $2 million for park and trail expansion, $1.75 million for pavement management and $850,000 for new sidewalk construction.

Also allocated: $250,000 for improvements at Providence Park and $560,000 for enhancements at the intersection of Freemanville and Providence roads.

The new fiscal year starts Thursday, Oct. 1.
