A man convicted of trafficking cocaine in Marietta is headed to prison for 30 years, officials said Wednesday.

A Cobb County jury convicted 41-year-old Ferrando Rodriguez in June for his role in drug trafficking along Franklin Road in 2015, Cobb District Attorney’s Office spokeswoman Kim Isaza said.

Narcotics agents used a tip to get a search warrant for a tractor-trailer that Rodriguez drove and that’s where they found more than 400 grams of the illegal drug with an estimated street value of $3 million, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution previously reported.

Assistant District Attorney Greg Epstein said the conviction and sentence is a win for the county in combating deadly drugs and addiction.

“Trafficking is not only a crime, but it represents poison on the streets of Cobb County,” Epstein said.

Rodriguez, who has been in custody since his 2015 arrest, was also fined $1 million, Isaza said.

The other two men charged in this case pleaded guilty in June 2016 and were sentenced.

Jesus Ruben Rosillo, 53, pleaded guilty to trafficking in cocaine and was sentenced to 25 years in prison and fined $1 million. Rosillo admitted he packed the cocaine into the tractor-trailer, Isaza said.

Javier Leonardo Rodriguez, who is 26 and not related to Ferrando Rodriguez, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to violate the Georgia Controlled Substances Act. He was ordered to serve 12 years in prison and pay a $300,000 fine. Javier Rodriguez admitted he had driven with the other two defendants to check out a drop site to transfer the drugs, Isaza said.
