After failing to get a passing vote two weeks earlier, the Henry County Board of Commissioners passed the millage rate of 12.733 at an Aug. 13 special called meeting.
That is the same rate as the previous year. The vote was 4-2 with Gary Barham and Blake Prince in opposition. County officials pointed out that the new budget calls for an expected $6 million in additional revenue over last year, and that rolling back the millage would allow funding for implementation of an employee compensation and classification study or possible tax appeals. Barham made a motion to roll back the millage to 12.600 but it failed to get approval.
The board adopted a $161 million budget in May.
