A Smyrna man has been arrested by federal authorities and charged with hacking into the computer operations of a New Jersey pharmaceutical company where he once worked.
Jason Cornish, 37, was charged with freezing the computer network of Shionogi Inc. In late September, shortly after Cornish resigned from the company, Shionogi laid off an employee who was Cornish's close friend and former supervisor. In February, authorities said, Cornish gained unauthorized access into the company's computer network and carried out an act of revenge. BILL RANKIN

The Georgia Supreme Court said Tuesday convenience store clerks can be held responsible if they sell alcohol to an intoxicated customer who later has an accident.
The parents of a 6-year-old girl who was injured in the 2004 crash filed a lawsuit. Six people also were killed.
According to the lawsuit, Billy Joe Grundell was “noticeably intoxicated” when he bought a 12-pack of beer from a Clinch County store.
Four hours later, Grundell’s car slammed into an oncoming van. Grundell’s blood alcohol concentration was 0.181, more than twice the legal limit.
