After about five months work, the $1.1 million renovations of Decatur’s two oldest parks, McKoy and Oakhurst, are nearly complete.

New picnic pavilions have been built at each park, along with new concession stands at each and new bathrooms that can be used year around. Park users have requested these upgrades for years.

With only the repaving of the upper parking lot remaining, McKoy should open this weekend in time for the start of Decatur High’s baseball season. According to Deputy City Manager Hugh Saxon Oakhurst is probably another three weeks from completion.
