The Henry County Board of Commissioners voted at its Aug. 21 regular meeting to accept a $5,237,611 bid for the McDonough Parkway extension project which is part of the county’s SPLOST program.

The lowest of five bids on the project was submitted by CMES Inc. Since available funding totaled $4,567,690 on this project, the move required a $750,000 budget amendment, taking money from the Peeksville Road project, which is still in the right-of-way acquisition stage and its construction won’t be completed until much later in the SPLOST program.
