In the wake of the police-involved shooting of Philando Castile during a traffic stop, a Georgia law enforcement officer proposes a potentially safer way to interact with officers, according to a media report.

If you are pulled over by police, Muscogee County Marshal Greg Countryman said the best thing you can do is to have your driver’s license and vehicle identification above your sun visor, the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer reported.

“Therefore, you don’t have to go to the left or to the right,” Countryman said Tuesday at a forum on interacting with law enforcement. “You can have your hand in a place where the officer sees you.”

The shooting deaths of Castile and Alton Sterling, both black men, led to protests in Atlanta and other cities.
