The Marietta City Council is expected this week to approve transferring $130,000 left in its low-income housing program to the Marietta Housing Authority. This step will close the city’s low-income housing program.

The council decided in July to close its Section 8 rental assistance program and consolidate with the housing authority to avoid duplication of services. The federal department of Housing and Urban Development will have to approve the closure.
