The Marietta Board of Education has launched its nationwide search for a new Marietta City Schools (MCS) superintendent, following the August announcement by MCS Superintendent Emily Lembeck of her retirement on Dec. 31.

Lembeck has taught and led in MCS for 29 years, beginning as a first-grade teacher at West Side and serving as superintendent for more than 11 years.

The Georgia School Board Association will assist the school board in the hiring process.

The school board will be sending surveys to MCS parents, faculty and staff to seek their preferences for qualities in their new superintendent.

Comments also may be sent to their school board representative.

Applications will be accepted through Oct. 9.

Information, including the link to the online application, is available at GSBA’s website at gsba.com/member-services/superintendent-search-service.
