The Marietta City Council approved rezoning Wednesday for Fort Hill, a new residential development by John Wieland Homes and Neighborhoods, also the developer of Marietta’s new Meeting Park.
Formerly owned by the Marietta Housing Authority, the property at 306 and 321 Lemon St. and 345 Fort St. will be transformed from apartments to 21 four-story townhomes and 34 single-family homes.
Attorney Kevin Moore, representing John Wieland Homes and the city’s housing authority, said the development will include rear-entry garages with a minimum of two cars each, sidewalks, green spaces, new landscaping and new lighting to make “a safe pedestrian environment.”
Also, Moore said Cole Street will be widened from 18 feet to 22 feet on the development’s side plus nine feet more for parallel parking.
