The Marietta City Schools Board of Education has approved an independent charter school that will provide language immersion in Spanish and English for elementary grade students.

The Georgia Board of Education will also have to approve the school that is expected to open on Franklin Road in 2016. The school plans to start with 240 students in kindergarten through second grades and add a grade each year through grade five.

Funding will come from the Marietta City Schools district, state and federal dollars. Education Planners, a group of local educators, will run the school.
