Lilburn’s Fiscal Year 2017-2018 budget is available for public review online at www.cityoflilburn.com and at City Hall, 340 Main St. A public hearing is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Monday, June 12 when the City Council will hear public comment and vote on the budget. The budget will take effect July 1. Lilburn’s 2017-2018 proposed budget funds major projects such as a new police headquarters and greenway improvements.

The proposed budget is nine percent less than the 2016-2017 budget. The FY2017-2018 budget for all appropriated funds totals $11,242,305, which includes $7,657,971 for operations, $1,527,228 for the Capital Projects Fund, $2,047,106 for the Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) Fund Issue 2017, and $10,000 for the Confiscated Assets Fund.

According to City Manager Bill Johnsa, the city is proposing the property tax rate to remain the same at 4.43 mills.

Major expenditures in the proposed budget include $2.8 million for design and construction of the police and municipal court headquarters planned for U.S. 29, $929,228 for bridge replacement on the Camp Creek Greenway, $897,618 for transportation projects, including road resurfacing, sidewalks, and downtown parking, and $400,000 for patrol vehicles and equipment.
