The Lilburn City Council voted July 10 to adopt a property tax rate of 4.43 mills.
This is the same rate as 2016 and will result in an anticipated 5.68 percent more in revenue. Homeowners with increased assessed property values will see slightly higher property tax bills in 2017. Property taxes make up 28 percent of the city’s annual operating budget of $7,657,971 and 16 percent of the overall budget of $11,242,305.
The city approved the 2017-2018 budget on June 12 and will fund major expenditures to include $2.8 million for design and construction of the police and municipal court headquarters planned for US 29 and $929,228 for bridge replacement on the Camp Creek Greenway. An additional $897,618 is budgeted for transportation projects, including road resurfacing, sidewalks, and downtown parking, along with $400,000 for patrol vehicles and equipment replacement.
