The Lawrenceville City Council approved $31,818 recently for the purchase of 65 Havis docking stations for new Dell laptop computers to be used in uniformed police vehicles. The purchase will be made using asset forfeiture funds — money confiscated as the result of criminal activity. This applies to drug related crimes and other criminal and/or civil offenses.

The Havis docking stations from West Chatham Warning Devices will secure and allow multiple connection ports to the laptops in police vehicles. According to the Lawrenceville Police Department’s request for these docking stations, Dell has stated they will be keeping this line of laptops for many years to assist public safety.
