Andrea Muir hasn’t been able to attract a business renter to property owned at 561 Scenic Highway in Lawrenceville. As a result, Muir went before the city to request a rezoning of the half-acre property from Office/Neighborhood District to Single-Family Residence District. Since the property hasn’t been a good business location, Muir would like to use the home as a residence or lease to a family.
The structure was originally built as a residence, but was rezoned for Office/Neighborhood in 2002 for use as an office. The split-level single-family residence is on the west side of Scenic Highway, just north of Moon Road.. The two-car garage has been enclosed as living space. Vehicle access and parking are provided by a driveway extending from Scenic Highway, with a paved vehicle turn- around/parking pad near the street.
Given the predominance of residential uses and zoning in the immediate area, the Lawrenceville City Council voted to approve the rezoning with the condition it remains a residentially zoned property for at least five years.
