Whole Foods is set to open its largest Southeast location in Midtown in April.

Midtown will soon be home to the largest Whole Foods in the Southeast.

Bobby Turner, the grocer's south regional president, recently announced the store's  April 5 opening at the Midtown Alliance Annual Meeting.

The 70,000-square-foot store — twice as large as the average Whole Foods — will sit at 22 14th Street and include a rooftop terrace, a pub, microbrewery, cooking school and programming for yoga and movie nights.

The health food grocery store will be adjacent to the 39-story Icon Midtown high rise, which consists of 390 luxury apartments attached to a nine-level parking deck.

Last year, the company opened its new 365 by Whole Foods Market at North Decatur Square, an 86,000 square-foot mixed-use development. The chain, owned by Amazon, operates 11 locations in Atlanta including a second Midtown store on Ponce de Leon Avenue.

Whole Foods will move its south regional headquarters to the reimagined Colony Square in 2020, further fueling Midtown’s burgeoning redevelopment efforts.

North American Properties purchased Colony Square in late 2015, with the intent to reposition the office and retail complex as a gathering hub for Midtown Atlanta. A new six-story building, known as Building 300, will house five floors of office and retail space. Whole Foods will have 90 regional employees on two floors, or 30,000 square-feet, of the building.

The regional headquarters, currently in Roswell, will feature a test kitchen for Whole Food’s culinary team at the Midtown location.

“We wanted an office in an urban, creative community that celebrates food and offers our team members a collaborative work space and a variety of mobility options,” Turner said.
