The city is holding a first come, first serve auction for its excess inventory, such as laptops and desk phones.

The city is not looking to make money off the auction, officials said.

“Proceeds from this sale will defray future expenses that would otherwise come out of tax funds,” Burke Brennan, Brookhaven’s spokesman, said.

Some unconventional items will also be available. Burke says the city will auction off dog kennels, police car partitions and window bars.

Auction items will be listed on govdeals.com beginning July 2.
