A kitchen at an upscale Dunwoody hotel failed its latest health inspection after officials found issues with expired dairy products and lax handwashing among employees.

The banquet hall kitchen at the Crowne Plaza Atlanta Perimeter Ravinia scored 54/U on the inspection last Thursday, according to a Georgia Department of Public Health report.

In a statement released Monday, a representative with the hotel said: "Crowne Plaza Ravinia is in the process of swiftly rectifying deficiencies brought to our attention during the Health Inspection process. The safety and well being of our guests and our associates remains our priority."

The hotel, located at 4355 Ashford Dunwoody Road, is billed on its website as a picturesque retreat "highlighted by a series of waterfalls, beautiful terrace gardens, and surrounded by miles of scenic winding footpaths."

The picture in the kitchen wasn't as nice, according to the inspection report.

Raw beef was seen stored directly above raw fish, and sour cream and yogurt kept more than a week past the expiration date, the report said. The inspector observed various employees handle a cellphone, touch the rim of a trash can and adjust a hat and clothes — all while working with utensils and food in the main kitchen.

A worker was also reported touching "ready to eat" bread with bare hands.

In the men's room, the inspector noted flying insects.
