Kennesaw community comments will be sought by the Kennesaw Police Department on July 16 and 17.

The Assessment Team will collect the comments at 6 p.m. July 17 in the Kennesaw Council Chambers, 2529 J. O. Stephenson Ave., Kennesaw as the city’s police department seeks accreditation by verifying that it meets professional standards.

Agency employees and the public also are invited to offer comments by calling 678-255-7539, beginning at 2 p.m. July 16 to the Assessment Team.

Administered by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA®), the accreditation program requires agencies to comply with state-of-the-art standards in four basic areas: policy and procedures, administration, operations and support services.

Telephone comments and appearances at the public information session are limited to 10 minutes and must address the police department’s ability to comply with CALEA’s standards.

Copies of the standards are available at Kennesaw Police Department Headquarters, 2539 J. O. Stephenson Ave., Kennesaw.

The contact is Sergeant Mark Webster who may be reached at 770-422-2505 extension 3079.
