Kennesaw opens Southern Museum

The Southern Museum of Civil War & Locomotive History, 2829 Cherokee St. NW, Kennesaw, has been opened by Kennesaw officials with limited hours and operations.

Upon entrance, all guests will be screened and evaluated, including the taking of their temperature.

Southern Museum officials ask that people stay home if they have coronavirus symptoms such as a fever over 100.4°F, cough or shortness of breath.

Visitors to the Southern Museum are asked to remember federal social distancing guidelines.

The Southern Museum is taking extra precautions to ensure that the sanitation and cleanliness of the museum complies with Centers for Disease Control and Department of Public Health guidelines, according to a city statement.

The Southern Museum will be open 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays to Saturdays.

However, the museum’s Jolley Education Center and all interactive modules will remain closed.

Paid admission will provide access to all exhibitions, movies and the “General” locomotive.

Admission is $5 to $10 and free for museum members and children ages 2 and under.

Until further notice, all public events, classes and programs will remain canceled.
