Jimmy Dickens was sworn into office Monday as the Post 4 councilman for Kennesaw.
Dickens takes the place of Debra Williams who resigned to run for mayor, but Derek Easterling was chosen as the new mayor.
Though Dickens did not have a 50 percent plus one majority, Kennesaw’s election rules say the top vote-getter wins.
Dickens received 40.48 percent or 725 votes with Bruce Jenkins at 35.4 percent or 634 votes, Jon Whitmer at 23.51 percent or 421 votes and 11 write-in votes.
The term for Post 4 will expire Dec. 31, 2017.
