The Johns Creek City Council has approved an ordinance amendment allowing a fencing academy to open in an existing office building at 11300 Lakefield Drive.
The council held a public hearing and then voted to approve the zoning change from industrial park to community business for a single-story, 10,000-square-foot office building with 36 parking spaces on a two-acre site. The building has been vacant for at least two years, staff said in a presentation to the council.
The applicant, Jeff Kim, has proposed a fencing academy to provide training and classes for students of all ages. The Elite Fencing Academy would operate in 6,000 square feet, and 4,000 square feet would be for offices. Hours of operation would be 5 to 9 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.
