The Johns Creek City Council has approved awarding a $454,771 contract to Blount Construction Co. to do asphalt patching and edge-of-pavement maintenance and repairs on streets throughout the city.

The contract requires Blount to remove identified areas of pavement, stabilize any road base and then patch the area using Hot Mix Asphalt, according to a staff report to the council. The repairs will stabilize an area until it can be moved to the asphalt resurfacing list.

A total of 8,200 square yards of asphalt are identified for milling and patching along Old Alabama Road, Johns Bridge Road, Parsons Road, Rogers Circle, Bell Road and several locations in the Seven Oaks subdivision, as well as milling and patching several bridge decks and/or their approaches, staff said.

Another 3,700 square yards of edge-of-pavement maintenance and repair are planned along Old Alabama, Jones Bridge, Rogers and Bell. The contract calls for removing damaged or distressed edges and installing up to a 2-foot-wide pavement edge with striping.
