Johns Creek officials are blasting Georgia Senate Bill 330, designed to allow residents of Fulton and DeKalb counties to decide whether to add a half-penny sales tax to expand MARTA, including adding a heavy rail line through North Fulton to Windward Parkway.

Mayor Mike Bodker and council members released a statement Friday claiming the plan offers no effective resolution to the myriad of traffic problems a rapid transit corridor would create east and west across the region.

The group also claims there’s been little examination of significantly less costly and more workable solutions, that the heavy rail model has failed miserably and that adding the tax would place an undue burden on residents.
