The Johns Creek City Council has approved a $589,743 construction contract with CMEC LLC to install “traffic calming” measures on Buice Road between Kimball Bridge and Jones Bridge roads, a joint project with Alpharetta.

Concept plans for the project call for removing speed tables that predate Johns Creek’s incorporation and do not meet current standards; installing half-roundabouts at the Ocee Park entrance and at Noor View Court and Pineset Drive; and shifting on-street parking from the east to west side of Buice, according to a staff report to the council.

Buice is shared by Alpharetta and Johns Creek, and Alpharetta agreed to contribute $250,000 toward the work under an intergovernmental agreement by the two cities.

“The construction schedule for this project anticipates construction beginning in late June in order to avoid conflicts with the Pinewalk Subdivision swim team and the on-street parking required during these events,” staff said.
