Senior citizens who qualify for Peachtree City’s Senior Homestead Exemption can begin registering for the tax break on Jan. 4.

Homeowners must be 65 years old by Jan. 1 and have already applied for the standard homestead exemption through the Fayette County Tax Commissioner’s Office. Household income must be less than $30,000; the exemption itself is a flat rate of $5,000 per home.

Qualifying homeowners must bring proof of age and income (2015 tax return) to City Hall no later than Feb. 29. Call 770-487-7657 for details.
