The Holly Springs City Council has awarded a $228,500 contract to Woodwind Construction Co. Inc. for a new pedestrian building to be built on Harmony Lake Drive.

The council accepted the recommendation of its engineering consultant, BM&K Construction & Engineering, to award the contract Woodwind, which submitted the lowest of three bids for the work.

According to a Holly Springs request for bids, the project calls for a pedestrian bridge over a tributary of Avery Creek in the Harmony on the Lakes subdivision. The selected contractor would be responsible for clearing and grading, erosion control, a concrete sidewalk and final design and installation of the span.

The final cost of the bridge may be somewhat higher, as a grab rail not covered in the original scope of the project will have to be installed on both sides of the bridge so that it is ADA complaint, BM&K said.
