A large crowd is expected a Thursday night’s Holy Springs Planning Commission meeting, as commissioners consider a significant rezoning proposal.

Developer Stephen Macauley wants to expand the current Harmony on the Lakes mixed-use development near Hickory and Stringer roads by another 224 residential units. It currently has more than 1,000 units. Proposed is a rezoning from RD-3 to PDR, or planned development residential, which would give the developer more flexibility on lot sizes and the number of homes allowed.

Some current Harmony on the Lakes residents have expressed concern over potential traffic problems and other issues. But city officials point out the proposed rezoning change would give them more authority to place conditions on the developer.

Because of the anticipated crowd, the 6 p.m. Thursday meeting has been moved from the municipal building to the larger First Baptist Church of Holly Springs, 2632 Holly Springs Parkway.
