The Henry County Board of Education has scheduled three required hearings on its millage rate for the coming year.
The first one was July 16. The other two are both set for 9:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday, July 23. The final adoption of the millage will take place immediately following the final public hearing.
All of the hearings will be at the school board’s usual meeting room at its administrative offices, 33 N. Zack Hinton Parkway in McDonough.
The millage rate itself is unchanged, having been for more than a decade at 20 mills, the maximum allowed by state law. A rise in property values means an increase in overall tax revenue over the previous year, and when that happens public hearings are required by law.
