The Henry County Parks and Recreation Department will be taking over operation of the county-owned Cotton Fields golf course beginning July 1, after the Board of Commissioners approved a resolution in a 4-2 vote with Chairman Tommy Smith and Commissioner Blake Prince in opposition.
The action came at the board’s June 12 regular meeting.
According to the resolution, the current management company has decided to opt out of the day-to-day operations of the golf course, however will continue on a contractual basis to provide some services, including greens maintenance and the lease of various equipment. The resolution also allowed for payment to the current management company in the amount of $140,740 for previous services rendered. Cotton Fields is at 400 Industrial Parkway in McDonough.
