The McDonough City Council voted at its Feb. 18 regular meeting to approve a $642,000 payment to Henry County for its share in construction costs for the McDonough Parkway extension project.

That amount was specified in a Feb. 1 letter in which the Henry County SPLOST Department made a formal request for the money, noting that the terms of a 2013 intergovernmental agreement between the two municipalities directs the city to make the payment within 60 days of notification by the county. The expenditure will be paid from the city’s SPLOST funds.

The council vote to approve the expenditure was unanimous.
