The Henry County Board of Commissioners voted at its Aug. 21 regular meeting to approve a grant from the Georgia Association of Emergency Medical Services in the amount of $10,343 to purchase trauma equipment, supplies and funding for EMS-related training for the Henry County Fire Department.

Commissioners also approved the $65,832 purchase of eight self-contained breathing apparatus and 16 SCBA bottles for the HCFD, budgeted through capital funding. Additionally, the board approved the purchase of a HazMatID Elite monitor and training in the amount of $55,200 to assist employees with identifying and analyzing unknown chemicals for the safety of county employees and citizens. Funding was made possible by the Georgia Emergency Management Agency’s Hazardous Materials grant, which was approved last November.
