The Henry County Tax Assessors Office has been authorized to create a new personal property appraiser position to help deal with the office’s increased workload.

Officials said in the past year the increase of commercial and industrial development in the county has caused the workload to nearly double.

This is the first increase in staffing levels in the Tax Assessors Office since 2000.

The Board of Commissioners approved this action as well as a $30,000 budget amendment to cover the costs.
