The leadership of Eagle’s Landing First Baptist Church made a recent appearance before the Henry County Zoning Advisory Board for approval of a conditional use. The church has purchased more than 60 acres at the southeast intersection of Highway 42 and Brannan Road, just across a creek from the current church campus, which includes Eagle’s Landing Christian Academy.

The only immediate plan is to construct a road through the wooded tract to give the current campus direct access to Brannan Road, which will alleviate some traffic concerns, according to a church spokesman. Church officials have said the long-term plan would be to relocate the church and give the school total control of the current campus. With the board’s positive recommendation, the petition now goes to the Stockbridge City Council, as the site is in the Stockbridge city limits even though the church has a McDonough mailing address.
