The Hampton City Council voted Aug. 14 to approve a change to its meeting schedule, although the meeting dates were not changed.

The council has typically convened for a workshop session at 6 p.m. on the same day as its regular meeting, which is scheduled for 6:30. With recent workshop meetings tending to be very short, leaving a gap between meetings, a number of citizens commented that consolidating the two meetings would be more efficient as well as convenient for the public.

A new ordinance was approved calling for the workshop items to be incorporated into the regular meeting, which will start at 6:30 p.m.
