Muslim scholar Habib Umar bin Hafiz of Yemen kick off his North American tour in Atlanta this week.
While here, he will conduct lessons on topics that include exploring Islamic identity, spiritually and giving dawah. The "Tranquility Amidst Turbulence Tour" will start at 3 p.m. at the Risala Institute, 675 Village Square Dr. in Stone Mountain. Later, on Monday, he will speak on "Identity Crisis: Being Muslim & Living In America" at 6 p.m. Monday at the Georgia Tech Student Success Center, 219 Uncle Heinie Way.

Hafiz has spoken out in favor of interfaith dialogue. According to his biography, Habib Umar directs the Dar Al Mustafa seminary in Tarim, Yemen which is considered a top center of Islamic education.
