The Gwinnett County fire department is reminding citizens about a total ban on outdoor burning from May 1 to Sept. 30 in Georgia.

The Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD) imposes the ban to comply with Federal Clean Air Regulations.

Some open burning is still allowed with proper permits -- fires for agricultural practices zoned RA-200/residential agricultural, a forestry service prescribed burn and bonfires for activities sponsored by educational, civic or religious groups.
