A Denny’s restaurant on Jimmy Carter Boulevard in Norcross has failed a routine health inspection, records show.

The all-American diner chain received a 53/U on its health inspection, dropping from its previous score of 81/B, which was given in October 2016.

Food storage containers were “sticky to sight and touch” and dishes that were supposed to be clean were visibly wet, the report said. A manager was seen preparing food while wearing a watch and jewelry, and one employee prepared food after cracking an egg and not washing his hand, the inspector wrote.

Multiple foods were held at improper temperatures and both walk-in coolers were not working when the inspection began, the report said. Soup was kept in a cracked, rusty crock pot, according to the report.

Denny’s did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Re-inspections are typically conducted within 10 days of failures.
