Gwinnett County notified 12 employees in its tax assessor's office Monday their positions were being eliminated.
The move comes as the county continues plans to outsource its assessments of personal property and commercial real estate. Personal property includes boats, airplanes, manufactured homes, business inventory and business equipment.
The outsourcing is expected to save the county $310,000.
Gwinnett County plans to eliminate 250 positions from its work force of about 4,900 by the end of the year. The county had offered retirement incentive packages to 316 employees. In all, 202 employees took that offer.
