Gwinnett Commissioners voted recently to renew a special use permit for a tattoo and body piercing parlor in the 1000 block of Duluth Highway between McKendree Church Road and Parkside Walk Lane in unincorporated Lawrenceville.

The renewed permit comes with similar stipulations to those already in place including the business can not be open past 9 p.m. and the owner will repaint or repair any graffiti or vandalism to the property within 72 hours. Window signage that can be seen from the street is restricted to open/closed signs or those required by county, state or federal law. Peddlers and/or parking lot sales are prohibited.

The applicant’s letter requesting renewal states that since opening, the business has grown to four full-time licensed tattoo artists and the adjacent businesses (two restaurants and a barber shop) have also seen an increase in their sales. The applicant, John Drummond noted, “In our first year and a half we have already won Best of Gwinnett 2016, raised over $1000 for a local cancer patient, hosted music album release parties, thrown a family fun day with the barber shop, and [are] currently on a short list to film for Spike TV.”
