The Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners Tuesday accepted state and federal money to help buy and demolish 11 homes damaged during September 2009 floods.

The federal government will pay 75 percent of the cost, or about $1.6 million. The state will contribute another $212,546 for the project, and the property owners will pitch in the remaining $318,818. Gwinnett will use the properties as green space to restore natural floodplains.
